As a young, african woman in South Africa it is important to remember that who I am and what I look like is no less beautiful to anything or anyone else out there. This was my very first shoot in the studio and I chose to shoot an African model as I believe the fashion industries flooded with skinny, European models who I think are equally as beautiful. I used to look at fashion magazines as a child and I used to think that what I saw was what was ‘said’ to be beautiful for woman. Skinny, Tall, White. Today, I know that beauty does not start not does it end there. Theres been a lot of diversity now in fashion magazines which makes me a bit happier.

Millennial Mom

Being a young mom isn’t as easy or as hard as it looks. Somehow the body just adjusts so quickly to this huge change in your life. Balancing between school, a baby and a business is a bit tricky, it all just takes practice in time management to get you going. Today, i still have times where I feel overwhelmed but I get it moving. There is just no other way !

Art Photography

This is a very cool shoot. Its a mixture of photography and art (I think.) The interesting backgrounds and the fun styling puts it all together and its very enjoyable to see. The clothes, make up and hair are carefully planned with the different location and colours.

Natural Models in Natural Spaces.

As much as I love photography shot on scenic backgrounds, simple backgrounds also get me going. This is a photoshoot with a model with her natural hair and make up in what seems to be a not so exciting background yet it catches the eye. I love the grainy images and the mixture between the black and whit plus the images shot in colour.

Fashion and Architecture, The new black.

When Photography, Fashion & Architecture come together. This is how it should look. I love this combination of minimalistic yet strong backgrounds. This is one of my favourite photoshoots i have seen this year from Vogue Italia even though it is one of the most simple. I love the combination of the suit on a woman, giving this shoot an androgynous feel with the minimal yet powerful background. This is the kind of work i would like to produce in the future. Clean, beautiful shots for fashion editorials. Hopefully for a magazine like this.

New Beginnings with a Sentimental take.

Its been a while since I have taken a proper shoot in the studio. Well- since I have taking any kinds of photographs besides the ones I take on my phone and this is something I feel rally terrible about. I have been struggling to get into the habit of taking images and planning shoots but luckily I have gotten a last opportunity to finish what I started.

I am continuing my photographic journey and would like to start this block with the last photoshoot I shot in studio with this beautiful model. She is a natural beauty so I just worked a long with her.
